Speech Pathologist (Bayswater)
Vanessa is a highly experienced and engaging speech pathologist whose passion is working with children. In practice since 1997, she has expertise in supporting children with a wide range of presenting issues and challenges.
Throughout her career Vanessa has maintained an ongoing commitment to staying abreast of the latest evidence-based therapy. She regularly attends professional development programs so that she can share this knowledge and empower parents and others in helping support the children she works with. Her work experiences have been across a diverse range of paediatric settings in both public and private sectors where she has actively worked with other health professionals and educators.
Vanessa believes in the importance of building rapport with children so that they feel comfortable and supported when learning new skills through play. An area Vanessa is passionate about is exploring with the child’s family and educational setting how best to widen a child’s learning opportunities by sharing knowledge and supporting them together. Vanessa focuses on learning through play (a child’s occupation is play, this is a way they learn about their world) and sharing experiences/knowledge through the retelling of stories or events and books. There are not many opportunities as adults where we can use our own imagination to spark learning in others. She loves the joy of being able to watch the excitement of children sharing their ideas and thoughts through a connection with another person
